Water facts: You probably are drinking the same water molecules that dinosaurs drank!

water facts

Water is life, and water is what makes our planet livable and green. However, we really don’t value this most essential resource of our lives and even waste it. Below are some water facts that you not have known so far, so read on and save water.

A glass of water has 1000 times more molecules than there are glasses of water in all of Earth’s oceans

There is the same amount of water on the Earth since the planet was created. So, generations after generations, all species are consuming the same set of water molecules and passing it back to the planet. The water in your glass could very well be the same molecules that a T-Rex drank.

A glass of water has 1000 times more molecules than there are glasses of water in all of Earth’s oceans

Believe it or not! The volume of water in the earth’s oceans is around 1.3 billion cubic kilometers, which is equivalent to 5 x 10^21 glasses of water. Whereas a glass of water has 6 x 10^24 molecules, roughly 1000 times more than the glasses in the oceans. Molecules win hands down.

The entire civilization runs on just 1% of the planet’s water

Almost 97% of Earth’s water is salty. Remaining 2% is locked in glaciers and ice caps of the mountains. This leaves us with just 1% water that we use for drinking, bathing, food processing, manufacturing, cultivation and all other needs of our lives.

You can survive a month without food, but barely a week without water

Animal bodies and plants are primarily made of water. In fact, 75% of the human brain is water and nearly 50-65% of the body mass is also water. Losing 12% of your body’s water will result in death.
